Bird & Wildlife Sanctuary

Hello!

Welcome to Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center.

Our mission is to protect birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow, using science, advocacy, education, and on-the-ground conservation. We achieve this through a variety of programs that engage our communities in learning about our local ecosystem and building interest in protecting our wild spaces.

From its inception in 2011, Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center has been welcoming visitors to its nature sanctuary where we enjoy a unique convergence of Texas' ecoregions.

Within our 200+ acres, there are 3 miles of hiking trails plus the C.E. Doolin Visitor Center. This canyon preserves green space not just to protect wildlife and native habitat, but to actively engage people in its conservation through learning and exploration.

Whether viewing birds indoors at Canyon View, participating in education programs, or enjoying lunch in the picnic area while children explore the free-play area, you will find ample opportunity to relax, immerse, and find a deeper connection to nature.

RAINY WEATHER ALERT!

Why do we close trails when they are saturated? Some of our trails are dangerously slippery when wet, and closing the trails protects them from accelerated and costly erosion. We can open our Canyon Floor Trail more quickly due to its composition. We are fundraising to make improvements to the West Loop and Dogwood Trails that would enable us to open them more quickly after it rains, providing access to the canyon during its most beautiful and peaceful time with trickling streams and the song of spring.
